Community Project 21
Project Overview
Working in groups, each Learning Community will conduct a Zoom visit with an area community agency, then prepare a brief (5-minute) powerpoint presentation to educate your classmates that organization. Each of the agencies serves unique populations that may have special healthcare needs, and all have agreed to host and inform medical student groups about what they do. The presentation explains the agency’s purpose, the population it serves, its special challenges, and what students have learned about the agency as a partner and resource in providing healthcare to the clients served. Community agencies such as these will serve as important resources for students' patients and partners in providing effective care for patients. These organizations also deal on a regular basis with social determinants of health—poverty, discrimination, disability, immigration status, adverse childhood experience, low literacy, racism, and other impacts.
