International Student ServicesRuby Oku Ruby is a Hardin-Simmons University Graduate who is passionate about advocating for
International Students. Ruby is from Ghana and is intrigued by languages, cultures,
and traditions worldwide. Her past experience working in the Baptist Student Ministry
department led her to work with International Students in Hardin-Simmons University,
which enlightened her path to have a career in this area. She enjoys reading, working
out, and nature walks. Erika Casarez Teresa Carlisle Rachel Branch joined the Student Life team as International Student Coordinator in July of 2024. She organizes and leads workshops, training sessions, and orientations for our international students. She also supports and advises international students on a variety of day-to-day issues. Rachel has been working in education for over 13 years as an English instructor for international adults. She has taught English in higher education settings in China, Mongolia and Saudi Arabia. She has worked as an English instructor for the TTU International Teaching Assistant summer workshop six times, and has also taught for Portland State University, Austin Community College, South Plains College, and several private language schools. In addition, Rachel has taught English to Iraqi embassy and parliament members for two projects with the U.S. Department of State. Rachel received her M.A. in Classics and later in Applied Linguistics, both from Texas Tech University. When she’s not busy raising her two cats, Rachel loves to spend time with friends and family, play roller derby, and travel the world. |
