Training
The Southwest Initiative Behavioral Health Care Division trains both the current and future health care workforces in evidenced-based services and research practices. Division supervisors and trainers emphasize the scientist-practitioner model, assisting providers in applying state-of-the-art scientific knowledge to the practice of behavioral health care. These supervisors also utilize evidenced training methods and strategies that focus on active and experiential learning processes within a structured and supportive environment.
The Division currently offers an addictions rotation for psychiatry residents, internships for marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and other behavioral health care professionals, and training seminars for public and private health care organizations.
