Magan Brown, M.S., LCDC
Senior Counselor, Adult Outpatient Program
Magan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University, and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Magan is experienced in providing substance abuse counseling, addiction and recovery services, and helping family members impacted by their loved ones’ addictions. She utilizes a systemic strengths-based approach, employs Solution-Focused Therapies, and incorporates humanistic techniques in treatment. Magan is trained in EMDR and Gottman’s Couple Therapy with an extensive background in codependency treatment, as well as in relational and group counseling. She has been a counselor for 12 years, previously working with juveniles in schools and in a long-term residential program, and has worked for SWIAD and the Ï㽶ֱ²¥ Department of Psychiatry for 6 years.
Billy D. Huey, MAC, LCDC, LPC
Senior Counselor, Adult Outpatient Program
Billy is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Texas A&I University. He graduated with his Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Wayland Baptist University. Billy has a diverse history of working with individuals with Mental illness, including serving as the Director of the Men’s Addictive Services House for Managed Care Center Inc, Director of Intensive Adult Mental Health Services for StarCare Specialty Health System and the Mental Health Services Coordinator for The Texas Civil Commitment Center. He is trained in both EMDR Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Billy is currently a Senior Counselor with the Southwest Initiative for Addictive Diseases at Ï㽶ֱ²¥, specializing in providing Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Services.
Dr. Kimberly Kerksiek, LMFT
Senior Director
Dr. Kerksiek has worked at the Health Sciences Center since 2006 and has served as the Clinical Director at SWIAD since 2012. She earned her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Dr. Kerksiek is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), is an LMFT Supervisor in Texas, and is an Approved Supervisor Candidate with AAMFT. Dr. Kerksiek specializes in addiction and recovery processes, family dynamics of addiction, co-occurring disorders, trauma treatment, and relational therapy. She employs a strengths-based therapeutic approach, utilizing Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Language Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Kerksiek has completed multiple trainings and certifications, including Gottman Method Level 2 Certification and EMDR training.
Michaela Trevino, M.S., LPC, LCDC
Senior Counselor
Michaela earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Her expertise lies in supporting individuals and families who are experiencing substance abuse issues. She also specializes in women’s issues and working with individuals in the criminal justice system. Michaela is trained in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including both EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time wither family, cuddling her dog, Cleo, and crafting delicious meals in the kitchen.
