What is your deadline for receiving applications?
October 10th
What is your timeline for conducting interviews?
November 1 thru mid-December
Does the resident have any cost for insurance?
Medical, Dental, and Vision are covered for the residents and family at no cost.
How can I apply to your program?
All applications must be submitted through ERAS. Also see link to Residency Information and Pediatric
Requirements.
Do you offer a transitional year (PGY-1) with your program?
No.
How many positions are you offering through the match this year?

Do you have a cut-off for USMLE scores to consider the application?
We require residency applicants to have reasonable USMLE scores. Passage from first
attempt is encouraged but not required.
Does the program require USMLE Step 2 to be completed by a certain date to be considered
as an applicant?
USMLE Step 2 (CK and CS) must be completed prior to the match.
Does your program accept international medical graduates (IMG’S)?
Yes, a J-1 Visa or green card must be held/obtained. No other types of Visas are
allowed by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
What types of Visas do you sponsor?
We only sponsor J-1 Visas.
How many call days are residents required to take each month?
We have a night shift in place with a senior resident and intern who cover Monday
through Friday night for 4 weeks at a time. Weekend call is shared among the remaining
senior residents and interns.
Do you require or strongly encourage research?
Scholarly activity in the form of publishing a case report in a journal or presenting
in a national conference or research publication is a requirement for graduation.
Do you require any clinical experience?
No, we do not.
What electives are offered?
Adolescent Behavior, Cardiology, Developmental Behavioral, Endocrinology, Hematology
& Oncology, Neurology, and Nephrology. We offer rotations in Lubbock, specifically
Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases,Child Abuse, and Pulmonary.
