At the in the Permian Basin, we aim to reach out to the community. Our physicians not only limit themselves to the clinic but reach out to the kids in the Permian Basin with various community involvement programs.
Million Life Fighters
Rural Texas with three to Eight times trauma mortality than national. The number of traffic deaths occurring every day is very disturbing 3, 300. Extrapolated to over 1.3 million deaths per year globally, with another 20-50 million sustaining permanent injuries or disabilities. The answer is Mission Million Life Fighters. With over 10,000 first responders trained, Mission Million Life Fighters is one of the fastest growing dynamic educational platforms that will help address today’s trauma crisis.
Various Community Programs
Spring into reading: an event to encourage early literacy. Collaborating with the nationally renowned, not for profit Reach Out and Read program. At Tech we educate our families to start reading to their children early and involve them in various educational activities. This event was conducted in 2013 and 2014.

Dr. Kola and her asthma team along with ECISD school nurses and MCH asthma educator (Mr. R. Galindo)conducted an educational event to involve parents with the asthma educators and clinical staff about asthma awareness especially among the pediatric population. About 50 families with asthmatic children participated in this event and we educated the families about asthma triggers and the need to be complaint with their medications. This event is no longer active.
Ector county school district homes about 5000 asthmatic children and Flu season is known to increase the risk of asthma attacks amongst children. Our pediatricians conducted two free flu clinics within the elementary schools to help asthmatic children who were uninsured and under-insured to fight this flu season. The clinics were supported by the Pediatric Asthma Clinic. This event is no longer active.
