Curriculum
The core curriculum and rotation descriptions are given to and reviewed with each resident at the beginning of his or her first year of training. The curriculum is reviewed and appended / revised every six months by the Curriculum Committee consisting of representatives from the full-time and clinical faculty as well as selected residents from each year of training. Curriculum changes are implemented before the next curriculum review.

Medical Center Hospital
Medical Center Hospital located in Odessa, Texas is a 402 bed Joint Commission accredited acute care facility. The campus has an active Emergency Room and busy Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units. A Simulation Center and Dedicated Educational Unit have been established on the 7th floor to serve Texas Tech physicians, students and patients. MCH is a is a leader in diabetes care, cardiovascular services and interventional radiology. MCH also offers CareStar, the exclusive air ambulance service of the Permian Basin. Specialty areas within the hospital include the MCH Center for Heart Disease, MCH Diabetes Center, and the MCH Ann Roden Deaderick Cardiac and Pulmonary Center.
Midland Memorial Hospital
Midland Memorial Hospital located in Midland, Texas is a 272 bed Joint Commission accredited acute care facility, essentially new as of December 2012 with the opening of its new patient care Tower. The campus also features the Allison Cancer Center, the MMH Heart Institute and inpatient Hospice. The Emergency Room receives 35,000+ patients per year. The Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units are also active.
Support services such as Dietary, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Wound Care, Ostomy Care, and Social Service are readily available at both hospitals.
Approximately seventy percent of the residents' time (combined inpatient and outpatient experiences) is spent in Odessa and thirty percent in Midland. The distance between the cities and hospitals is approximately twenty miles (20 - 30 minute drive). Physicians based at Medical Center Hospital, Midland Memorial Hospital, as well as full-time faculty, supervise elective rotations in internal medicine subspecialties as well as non-medical specialties. Under special circumstances, with approval from the Program Director and the Graduate Medical Education Committee, elective rotations may be taken at other academic institutions.
West Texas VA Healthcare System
The Big Spring VA Medical Center, 40 miles east of Midland, formerly an inpatient hospital, but now an extensive outpatient and intermediate care facility, hosts a required 4-week Geriatric block and a variety of clinic/teaching experiences (including Musculoskeletal, Radiology, Psychiatry, Pre-op, and Nutrition).
Wilson and Young Medal of Honor VA Clinic
The outpatient clinic was added in 2016, serving the region's veterans.

Each resident is assigned to one of our 2 continuity clinics sites:
- The Texas Tech Physicians Odessa clinic primarily serves the population of Odessa and follows up with MCH patients.
- The Texas Tech Physicians Midland clinic primarily serves the population of Midland
and follows up with MMH patients.
