Rotations
Required resident rotations are dictated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. The intern year includes general surgery, SICU, rehabilitation & emergency room medicine, as well and orthopaedics. PGY-2 & PGY-3 are junior residents with responsibility to provide 1st call, initial patient care for trauma patients entering the the ER and making initial evaluations. PGY-4 & PGY-5 are chief residents. Their supervisory responsibility increases and they help supervise and direct the activities of junior residents and interns. The following is a sample of rotations per PGY level.
- 1 month Rehabilitation
- 1 month Neurosurgery
- 1 month Spine
- 1 month Burns/Plastics
- 1 month Surgical ICU
- 1 month Vascular Surgery
- 1 month Emergency Department
- 5 months Orthopaedics (includes Adult Reconstruction and Pediatrics)
Research/Skills labs are integrated into weekly schedule.
- 6 months Orthopaedic Trauma

- 3 months Sports Medicine
- 6 months Pediatric Orthopaedics
- 3 months Foot & Ankle/Research
- 6 months Orthopaedic Trauma

- 3 months Pediatric Spine
- 3 months Sports Medicine
- 3 months Adult Reconstruction/Joint Replacement/Musculoskeletal Oncology
- 2 months Spine
- 1 months elective/research
