PGY 2
Rotations:
The PGY-II year consists of rotations in the following areas:
- 3 months of Emergency Psychiatry (also known as Night Shift)
- 3 months of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
- 3 months of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry
- 1 month of elective time
- 1 month in Addiction Psychiatry
- 1 month in Telemedicine Psychiatry
- Half day per week in Adult Outpatient General Psychiatry for experience in supportive psychotherapy
ROTATION OBJECTIVES IN RELATION TO ACGME COMPETENCIES:
The PGY-II year consists of 3 months of Emergency Psychiatry, 3 months of Inpatient Psychiatry, 3 months of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, 3 months of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, half day per week in Adult Outpatient General Psychiatry for experience in supportive psychotherapy, and 1 month in Addiction Psychiatry.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF PGY-II RESIDENT INCLUDE:
- Being familiar with patients and their families, serving as the attendings' principle resource for day-to-day patient data.
- Supervising medical students and in special circumstances orienting the PGY-1 residents.
- Initiating common diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions as appropriate in non-complex patients prior to the attending evaluation.
- Supervising selected presentations from PGY-1 residents and medical students with attending approval.
- Maintaining medical records.
- Being available for on call responsibilities from outside of the hospital.
- Participating in Case Conferences, Journal Clubs, and Grand Rounds.
- Participate in clinical skills verification.
Each Tuesday all Residents will have Didactic training from 1:00 pm till 5:00 pm.
